The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced 15 films that make it into the semifinal stage for Oscar nomination consideration for Achievement in Visual Effects. Those who are named on the list include "Alice in Wonderland", "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I", "Inception", "Iron Man 2" and "Tron: Legacy".
The list will be narrowed down to 7 in early January 2011 by the Executive Branch of AMPAS' Executive Committee. The final nominations, meanwhile, will be announced on January 25 at 5:30 A.M. PT, live from the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

The 83rd annual Academy Awards will be held on February 27, 2011 at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood and aired live by the ABC Television Network. James Franco and Anne Hathaway have been billed to serve as hosts.
