A little girl with a big voice, 10-year-old Jackie Evancho won the America's hearts with her rare talent. The soprano prodigy was brought into the national spotlight through her endearing performances on the fifth season of "America's Got Talent". She was one of the judge favorites with Piers Morgan describing her talent "extraordinary" and Sharon Osbourne calling her "unbelievable."
Humbled with the judges praise, Jackie herself said, "It was amazing to be on 'America's Got Talent' because it's really helped me to reach my dreams." The young girl who found her interest in music after watching "The Phantom of the Opera" continued, "It's helped me to show off my talent and helped me to realize how fun what I do is."
"Excited to help develop that talent in her future recording career," Columbia/Epic Label Group quickly signed her and released her mini album "O Holy Night". She became talk of the town soon afterwards since she broke the Top 10 list of Billboard Hot 200, becoming the youngest female solo artist to do so in the Nielsen SoundScan history.
Jackie has been invited to several major events including the annual star-studded Christmas in Rockefeller Center which featured Mariah Carey, Kylie Minogue and more. She will also be seen performing for her Canadian fans in a CBC TV special aired December 13 along with Justin Bieber, David Foster, Paul Anka and Charice.
Next for Jackie will be a full album of classical crossover material that she will start recording in early 2011. "It won't just be the songs that everyone seems to repeat," her mother Lisa revealed. "It will be covers of existing material that perhaps has new arrangements to it." Jackie has started to write her own lyrics, but for now "it's school work and family life and her career."
