The first of the two-part finale on "The Apprentice" immediately saw the firing of Liza Mucheru. The December 2 episode started right after Steuart Martens was fired, during which Donald Trump ordered the three remaining contestants to come back to the boardroom for a second elimination.
Based on personalities, Trump decided to let go of Liza because while she was "outstanding in every way" she lacked on the interpersonal skills that would make her suitable for the Trump empire. After the elimination, Liza said, "I really value Mr Trump's opinion and to hear that he didn't think I get along with people really hurt. It's hard to know that I got so close."
This left the finale to Brandy Kuentzel and Clint Robertson who each had to team up with some of the fired contestants in the final task. Brandy picked Liza, Stephanie Castagnier and Anand Vasudev while Robert got Mahsa Saeidi-Azcuy, Poppy Carlig and Steuart. Brandy's team was to put up a VIP golf tournament featuring Kathy Griffin while Clint's was to organize a dinner gala with Liza Minnelli.
Brandy admitted that she was not familiar with the sport but was glad that Liza was a player. She assigned Liza and Anand to arrange for gift certificates for the tournament's attendants but her crew went with another kind of gifts. The photographer for the event then informed them that he went into the wrong golf course, and was two-hours away from the actual venue.
Things were not smooth for Clint as well. Steuart was given the responsibility to take care of the catering but the food company called to say that they might be late. Clint took the drastic measure of changing to another caterer. Also, Poppy and Mahsa found out too late that "Liza Minnelli" only had one N in the spelling of the poster.
The first part ended here with all the mess. The finale will air next week on NBC.
