Katy Perry's 'Firework' Soars High on Billboard Hot 100

Katy Perry has exploded into the number one spot on the U.S. charts with "Firework". The singer's third chart-topping single from her latest album "Teenage Dream".

The singer rocketed up one spot to knock last week's Billboard Hot 100 champion Pink's "Raise Your Glass" from pole position. Rihanna has another new song in the top three - her "What's My Name" track with Drake is third - while the Black Eyed Peas' "The Time (Dirty Bit)" is at four.

Bruno Mars' latest soulful offering, "Grenade", rounds out the top five.

"Firework" is the third single from Katy Perry's 2010 summer album "Teenage Dream", which was released on August 24. In support of the album, she is going on a California Dreams tour next year.

 Newly-wed singer Katy Perry is considering changing her last name to seal her union with husband Russell Brand. The "I Kissed a Girl" hitmaker, who was born Katheryn Hudson, wed the funnyman in a lavish ceremony in India in October and admits she likes the idea of becoming Katy Brand.

She tells U.S. talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, "When people try to get my attention, like if I'm at an event or something like that and they want special attention, they go, 'Mrs. Brand!' And I go (turns head) shwoosh!" And when asked whether she would consider taking Brand's name as her own, Perry replied, "I am, actually."

Katy Perry is looking forward to British royal Prince Willam's wedding next year - because the history-obsessed star insists the ceremony will be an unforgettable event. She tells Britain's The Sun, "I think the whole world is going to be watching that one. The whole world is going to be tuning in. I think it's just one of those moments that you don't want to miss. I find the whole royalty system very interesting because we don't have it in the States. One of my favorite subjects has always been history, and Russell has been very helpful filling me in with the history of the English."

"Going by history, the interest in Kate and William's relationship is probably a hundred times what we get. I don't know them first-hand, but from an outsider's perspective it looks like it's going to be really fun for them but a lot of hard work at the same time."

Rihanna kicked off the star-studded ceremony of 2010 American Music Awards. Sporting a curly red hair, she perched on the branch of a stylized tree standing tall above the stage and opened her set with "Love the Way You Lie (Part II)" before later switching the mellow vibes of the Eminem-assisted song to a more cheerful tone with "What's My Name?".

While RiRi delivered a sassy performance with some sexy female dancers, Katy Perry chose to bring a children choir when singing empowering song "Firework". As she walked to the center stage, the kids moved aside. They were replaced by several males who lined up behind Perry and set off some fireworks.

Rihanna took Favorite Soul/R&B Female Artist title at the 38th Annual AMAs taking place at Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on November 21. Katy Perry, meanwhile, walked home empty-handed, losing Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist to Lady GaGa, and Favorite Pop/Rock Album as well as Artist of the Year to Justin Bieber.

Katy Perry has broken her silence about her Photo-shopped breast reduction, revealing she demanded marketing bosses at VH1 tone down the poster for her upcoming Divas Salute The Troops U.S. TV special.

Reports suggested Perry's aides asked for her boobs to be photo-shopped for the patriotic poster, but Perry took to Twitter to reveal the truth.

She wrote, "I was the one who asked VH1 to tone down my DIGITALIZED image on the poster, particularly the size of my chest... I don't have handlers... but someone @VH1 offices is a gossipmonger & thought they could use a little extra press planting the story."

Brand reveals they were inundated with picture deals from top magazines, but ultimately decided against sharing one of their most intimate moments with the world. The comedian tells U.S. newsman Larry King, "They offered us money to sell the photos, but once you've sold the photos to the wedding, how can you go, 'Oh, give us privacy!' We kept them private and normal."

"And I honestly think had she not come - I really don't think I would be here right now. Without even talking, she just listened. I truly believe that saved my life."
