LUSH OCEAN SALT SCRUB & REVLON LIP GLOSS

 

My hubby is mystified at the number of body products I have amassed. He watches my growing stash and has given me an ultimatum that before I can purchase anymore products, I have to finish the current stash of soaps\scrubs\delicious lathering tubs and that’s what I intend to do!

Thankfully, my mom saved the day when she bought me some Fresh Farmacy & Ocean Salt Face and Body Scrub from LUSH when she returned from the US. Hehe. It’s cheating but in a valid way cause it was a gift! hahaha

Ingredients:

Fine Sea Salt (Sodium Chloride), Fresh Grapefruit Infusion (Citrus grandis),Coarse Sea Salt (Sodium Chloride), Stearic Acid, Fresh Lime Extracted in Vodka (Citrus aurantifolia), Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, Glycol Cetearate, Triethanolamine, Fresh Avocado Butter (Persea gratissima), Coconut Fat (Cocos nucifera), Lime Oil (Citrus aurantifolia), Seaweed Absolute (Fucus vesiculosus), Violet Leaf Absolute (Viola odorata), Glycerine, Lanolin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Limonene, Linalool, Perfume, FD&C Blue No. 1, Methylparaben, Propylparaben.

Why am I smiling like a goofball? hehe… Blue salt scrub just looks so damn funny on the skin !  I looked like a blue alien and my hubby gave me a “ omg, I married a lunatic”  look when I was scrubbing away ! huk huk huk

Review & Thoughts:

Crazy looks aside, this scrub grows on me. I’ve used it a few times  and to be really honest, it can be very abrasive. If you have really thick, flaky skin, this scrub is going to be great for polishing off the dead skin cells. If you have thin sensitive skin, I highly suggest using this very sparingly and using it once every 2 –3 weeks or you can use it  as a body scrub . It stung a little and I’m not too sure if this feeling is from the salt, lime or fragrance but it subsides once I’ve washed it off. Afterwards, my skin looks red and feels a little raw but moisturized.

The consistency is thick so it won’t run all over the place but if you prefer softer/gentler scrubs, this might not be for you. Personally, I love the smell of this scrub as it is so rejuvenating! The downside is that it is expensive!! I could get alot more scrubs on Etsy for the price paid. My mom was like – Lush is expensive! Yup, but what a fun experience nevertheless!

Skin wise, I don’t see a mega improvement. Fresh Farmacy facial cleanser seems to have produced much more visible results. Will I repurchase this product? Maybe I would for my body but not for my face!

Ah, Revlon’s Lip Glosses have been all over you tube and beauty blogs lately and I had to check out what all the fuss was about!

Wow, all I can say is that I am addicted to this amazing lip gloss in Nouvelle Teinte and I like to put it on FOR FUN! It feels like a smooth butter gloss . Doesn’t dry out the lips and the shade is a good companion for many lip colors! I don’t think wearing this alone for dark tone lips is a good idea cause it’s not pigmented enough to cover up darker lips. Girls with light lip tones will really look fabulous with this lip gloss and nothing else, it’s so dang pretty for a dolly look or paired with a simple dark eye. Versatile. Nice Taste. Creamy.

My favorite combination has to be Revlon Nouvelle Teinte + Sephora Lip Liner ( Native Nude). It’s super gorgeous together and I’ve decided to pair it with a quick smokey eye:

 

It’s still Wednesday!!?! I’m hoping I can get a C section date sometime next week. It’s about time and I’ll let you guys know this friday when the scheduled birth date is:-) Excited and oh so so so scared at the same time. My emotions are like a damn rollercoaster right now!

 

Weekend Beauty Buys & Finds

 

This weekend was so totally relaxing for me. I spent it chilling and doing some beauty shopping. Don’t you just love a weekend devoted to rest & rejuvenation! Yea!

Here’s the stuff I accumulated over the weekends, not too much but I’m happy with it all::

 

I dumped Maybelline The Magnum Mascara! I did, cause I left it out to dry for a day and it was still clumpy and sucky. Hated it. I’ve read rave reviews on this Kiss Me Heroine Make Volume & Curl Mascara and I decided to try it out. I love to try out all sorts of mascara and this was a risk that definitely paid off. I will do a thorough review on this mascara this week!!

Oooohhh… Revlon I love you for this nude lip gloss in Nouvelle Teinte ! The color payoff is fab, the color is to die for and it feels so smooth on the lips!  Swatches to come soon too!

I’ve tried high end curlers and low end curlers and I still find myself running back to well packaged and nice looking drugstore curlers. Hey, WATSON’s Eyelash Curler ( With Pink Plastic Handle) actually cost around 5 SGD only. It’s sturdy, it’s curls well and it’s pink. The fit around my lashes is just nice and it gives a nice natural curl!

I am a shampoo hoarder. I hate it when my shampoo is running out and I don’t have a backup. As usual, I love lavender and AVALON ORGANICS Shampoo just smells amazing!

Just ordered a pack of 6 De Shawn Marie Soaps for my mom as part of her birthday gift. She loves lathering them up with a loofah and she’s in love with the smells! I got her tons of lemony and fruity scents cause those zesty smelling soaps are her favorite :-)

My mom picked up Fresh Farmacy  Cleanser during her recent travels and I’ve been using this facial wash for 4 days now. My hubby noticed a difference on the 3rd day, saying that my face was radiant without the usual “ Beetroot Redness.” He rarely compliments my skin so this facial cleanser could be a keeper. Will continue using for a some time more for a review!!

It’s great fun to discover really interesting you tube beauty gurus and I might be a little late in discovering JLOVESMAC1 but I absolutely love her makeup style and all her bright cheery colors! Her lighthearted, witty and funny approach to beauty is refreshing and she really reminds me of  RAVEN! She’s also actually really really pretty when she’s bare faced!

After watching so many eyebrow tutorias, I’ve been following these basic steps when filling my eyebrows and I find the effect to be very natural and very pretty:

1) Using a brow pencil lightly outline your eyebrow shape.

2) Using an angled eyebrow brush, take a brown eyeshadow and fill it in while blending the outline into the lashes as well

3) The tail end of the eyebrows should be slightly darker than the front portion of the brows. A gradient effect ( light to dark) is really flattering for brows.

4) Using a flat straight concealor brush, conceal away the uneven edges on the top and bottom brow to give it a clean defined look. You can even “sharpen” the tail end of your eyebrows with this easy technique.
