Anderson Soap Products Review

image

Have you guys heard or bought any bath or body products from Dennis Anderson on Etsy ? Well, I just bought and received one Room & Linen Spray Mist in Steamed Vanilla and Liquid Soap in Lemon Zest.

Well, let me tell you that this dude’s scents are really strong and accurate. Initially, when I got the bottles, I opened it and took a whiff and immediately thought “ the scent is pretty light” … I also thought that Steamed Vanilla smelt exactly like Steam Vanilla and so did lemon zest. They smell exactly like the description.

I took the Room & Linen Spray and gave two light sprits in my bedroom and my entire room was smelling of vanilla. The scent actually lingered in my room for 1 whole day and it got stronger as time passed!  It grew so strong at one point that I had to air out my room, imagine that!  I read in someone review of Dennis Anderson products that they tend to smell a little light in the bottle but upon use, the smell is actually very strong and I have to agree!

The packaging is pretty normal for a room spray and handy to lug around. I actually used this to perfume a shop space and it’s the only thing that can last through an entire day. Overall, if you love strong and powerful scents then this company room & linen mist will blow you away. If strong scents give you a headache, you better stay away.

Untitled 178

As for the lemon zest liquid soap, I actually find the scent quite light. It smells just like lemon zest but I decided upon smelling it that I didnt really like it.instead,I should have tried something else like blackberry sage or lavender liquid soap. Also, it’s a mild vegan soap but I still prefer Dr Bronner’s liquid soap as Anderson liquid soap feels a little too mild for my me.

Overall, the shipping for this company was superb, packaging is good and scents are exactly as described. I really liked the room and linen spray and would like to try other scents like Apricot and Citrus Blast. I don’t recommend the liquid soap however as it feels a little too mild to me.

I’ve been on a curly hair kick lately --

I try to curl my hair and look cute but as soon as my baby gets a hold of my hair, it’s all downhill from there. Tying it up is the only way to save my poor hair! hahaha – Happy Friday!

Mad City Soap Part II Delectable Sugar Scrubs ~

How many sugar scrubs can a girl have? ? ?

                                    A ton!

This scrubby goodness from Mad City Soap is MARSHMALLOW scented and I must say, it smells just like the yummiest, freshest marshmallow you’ve eaten.. Marshmallow fans will simply adore this scent. Using it in the shower is like drenching urself in liquid marshmallows, minus the sticky feeling. There is no oily residue left on the skin or in the shower.  Upon contact, the sugary bits literally melt and cleanse away in a very gently bubbling manner. Presentation is also key with Scrubbin Bubbles Body Scrub – The fresh white color, topped with purple specks make it look like a delicious gigantic marshmallow. Packaging wise, the labels are waterproof so you can leave this in the shower without worrying!

In the description, Sue states that this scrub is most suited for normal to oily skin types. Her super popular moisturizing whipped sugar scrubs are only available in the cooler months ( starting September ). So if you happen to have really dry skin, it might be worth waiting a little while longer :-) Here in the tropics, I appreciate a little less oil every now and then!

IMG_5699IMG_5726

                     Yumss!!

If you aren’t bored, read on! I got another AWESOME Scrubbin Sugar Scrub in CHERRY DIVINITY….. This smells like strawberry ice cream rounded off with a good scoop of vanilla. Makes me want to take a bite off my hands. Dangerous for serious strawberry ice cream addicts! Overall, I can’t praise this scrubby goodness enough and the comfort it brings me in the shower. ….oohh Lalala…I am considering getting these scents in the dry oil version as it doesn’t contain alcohol which tends to evaporate quickly on my skin ( scent and all). Can’t wait to smell like strawberry ice cream and marshmallows:)

IMG_5721IMG_5719

Get me a spoon to dig into this one!!

Scrubbin Sugar Scrubs Ingredients: Sugar, Glycerin, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Olive Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Sorbitol, Propylene Glycol, Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate, Stearic Acid, Vitamin E, Dimethicone, Sodium Chloride, Diazolidinyl Urea, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Fragrance, Cosmetic Colorants

I got 2 body butters- Candy Fluff Type & Cotton Candy. Blame my preggie need for sugar and chocolate and all things sweet &  fatty. These smells I am not crazy over . They are way too sweet / medicinal smelling for me and the only way I can wear Candy Fluff is with HIWTK dry oil layered on. Cotton candy on the other hand is just something I can’t stomach. I wish I had gotten mango lassi or lush island retreat ! Butter wise though it does moisturize nicely. It feels a little greasy and thick initially but the cream seems to settle into the skin after a few minutes and the scent lingers. If you have a smell that you love, you could easily customize it to this body butter. It’s bound to make you smell of it 24-7.

                                               Fluffy goodness

Life’s too short. I want to live it smelling yummy :-)

Mad City Soap _ Honey I Washed The Kids Type Dry Body Spray

Wow. When bloggers reviewed this particular Etsy Seller saying that shipping is super quick and her Lush Dupes are pretty spot on, they are oh so right.

Parcel took a speedy  8 days to arrive and I am now going absolutely crazy over Honey I Washed The Kids Type Dry Body Spray.

IMG_5708IMG_5711

Ingredients: Cyclomethicone, Liquid Shea Butter, Fractionated Coconut Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Sunflower Oil, Fragrance (optional)

What I love about this HIWTK dupe dry oil is that it smells so much like the original and I don’t have to put the soap near me just to get a good whiff anymore. The honey, toffee and sweet smelling scent really stays on for a good 4-5 hours if you are in an air conditioned place and the smell is so terrific. I have worn perfumes that quickly de sensitizes my nose but this dry oil doesn’t do that. My smell buds ( as I like to  call them) keeps getting nice whiffs  throughout the day and the best part is that this smell blends so beautifully with sweeter smelling body butters.

If I could I would buy  a box full so I would never run out. That’s how madly obsessed I am with this smell. Only thing you have to be careful of is not to spray it on your favorite clothes as it is oil based. It takes a few seconds to settle into the skin and what you get is a nicely moisturized feeling, nothing heavy like a body butter.

I bought the 2 fluid ounce bottle and it’s so handy to throw into your handbag because the bottle is very secure. Sue is the owner of Mad City Soaps and I think she ranks amongst a few others as the best Customer Service on Etsy. Buying online is such cold experience at times but when you have a seller who is willing to reply to your questions, promptly and quickly, and ships the parcel out in a snap, it makes the whole purchasing experience pleasurable and satisfying.

A 2 Fluid Oz dry oil spray in the fragrance of your choice( you can choose from a longgg list), retails for only 5.50 USD I think. What a steal!

See her shop here >             MAD CITY SOAPS

** on a separate note altogether, SINGPOST, our local mail and parcel delivery, has once again screwed up on me. The first time was an almost 8 weeks delivery screw up to Munich from Singapore( my parcel was sent there and sent back- imagine that! ) and the second time was a few days ago when I purchased some Lush soaps from an ebay seller. I purchased the soaps last Sunday, she brought it to SINGPOST the next day on Monday ( weighed and sent it) and today, still nothing.
I HATE SINGPOST> the service is very pathetic and if this were the first time they screwed up on me I would let it go but it is not. This tiny island is too small for a parcel ( quite large may I add) to get lost.

SINGPOST, please up your game and stop being so sloppy with people’s parcels.

I hope you all have a good weekend and please if you live in Singapore and are intending to send anything overseas, consider Fedex( my no. 1), DHL or some other delivery service. With Singpost, it’s such an unnecessary gamble.

The Soap Seduction

I waited patiently for 10 days.

And my soaps have reached!!

Every Etsy soaper I have bought from has something distinct about their products and the smell of the soap seduction parcel  is: Exotic and Decadent

 IMG_5300

I was first attracted to this Etsy seller because of her gorgeous and exotic looking soaps  and her customer service is fast and prompt.  Also, I have a habit of checking with soapers, on the safety of their items for pregnancy. Patrice the owner of the Soap Seduction actually remember my question and sent me this very lovely card together with the parcel :

 IMG_5289

Sweet :) Patrice is so sweet, I love her thoughtfulness!

First Impressions: I love how everything was wrapped up in pretty pink paper and I absolutely love The Soap Seduction Style. Just going by the wrapping and smells, you feel that everything is meant to entice and seduce you into using them.

IMG_5286

The first item I took a bite out of, hehe , was the free sample of a Lip Bomb. The packaging is so convenient because you can turn the base and the balm glides right out and there are only 4 ingredients in it. It’s ultra ultra moisturizing & long lasting  but I wish she would have included the scent name. It smells of cranberry bubblegum. Nothing synthetic & very light :) No smell of any oils or beeswax or anything like that. Only drawback is that it’s a little mushy due to the heat. I think this lip balm needs some refrigeration before I apply it on again.

 IMG_5295

Next up are the sample size sugar scrubs! I got 2 flavors – Sniker Doodles & Lemon Chiffon. I wish I wish I wish I had bought the larger version of the Lemon Chiffon. It is to die for. The smell is SO SO good, I can’t even describe it.

IMG_5310

Both sugar scrubs are very smooth and the sugar particles in it are very fine and gently exfoliate the skin. Both scrubs lather well but differently. Packaging wise, I would have preferred the labels to be waterproof cause the ink from the ingredients label ran when I brought this into the toilet with me.

Snicker Doodles smells like a rich cinnamon bun mixed with a sneaker bar and the lather is  creamy. It can be a little overpowering and it makes my skin smell like warm vanilla with some notes of cinnamon.

 IMG_5311

Lemon Chiffon is a MUST HAVE!  It looks gorgeous in the sample sized jar and the smell is just decadent. It smells like the most sinful  lemony, vanilla chiffon cake ever, without all the calories :) The lather is truly amazing and leaves your skin feeling clean and silky smooth afterwards and if you are anything like me, you’ll be smelling yourself continually . I swear this is the sexiest food scent I have ever used. OMG> to die for people.IMG_5313

Next up are The Soap Seduction Soaps!

 IMG_5301

The first Soap I got was Holiday Serenade and this was not the smell I was expecting. It smells like Spicy exotic Potpourri :( The soap looks gorgeous though and I have a friend in mind to give this soap to. She prefers deeper muskier scents, while I adore sweet rich ones.

IMG_5321

The second soap I tried was Killa Vanilla and man oh man, this is one strong sexy smelling vanilla. It looks and smells good enough to eat. It’s cut like a small cake and the color  reminds you of coffee and chocolate. I think I might be a vanilla scent convert! Never would I have ever imagined that vanilla could smell so comforting and dead sexy at the same time!

IMG_5331

IMG_5334

The last soap I bought was the sweet nothings. It is huge! I like the light floral and fruity scent it imparts and it’s perfect for days when you just feel like doing nothing and lazing about. I don’t find the soaps moisturizing enough and the scent of this bar is very very light.IMG_5327

IMG_5329

Overall, I LOVE the SUGAR SCRUBS.

I like the soaps because they look very exotic and have a unique smell but the scent disappears too quickly after I bath unlike the sugar scrubs. Also, they are not as moisturizing as Bare Bumm Bath. Still, I have to say the scents are unique & seductive( can be overpowering to some I suspect) , the sugar scrubs are lovely and Patrice is a very sweet seller !

It’s midweek! Countdown to Friday people!

Toners on Etsy

Ah, just another reason to shop on Etsy. They sell skincare items and today I was zooming in on some toners! I love botanical\natural\non heavily scented toners and a few caught my fancy!

Currently, I’m getting about the days toner-less but I know once my normal hormonal cycle kicks in along with the ever abundant sebum, hissy fits and all, I’ll definitely need to start being very thorough with my skincare.  Having a baby has changed my skin somewhat, making it “normal” for once in my life. Right now, I don’t suffer from outbreaks and whatever pimples that do appear, disappear pretty quick. However, going by a few of my pregnant friends who also had well behaved skin during pregnancy, they did have bad acne once their monthly cycle was back in full swing.  I better be ready!

First off,

BOTANICAL TONER For Dry, Normal and Mature Complexions

by solsticescents

BOTANICAL TONER For Dry, Normal and Mature Complexions - With Witch Hazel, Rose Water, Soothing Lavender and Organic Cucumber Waters, Green Tea, Rose Essential Oil and More

This Facial Toner definitely grabbed my attention due to it’s pretty packaging and amazing ingredients list. I am a fan of lavender, rose water and green tea extract. This seems like a very soothing and mild toner.

Ingredients: Witch Hazel, Rose Water, Lavender Water, Cucumber Water (preserved with silver citrate and citric acid), Organic Green Tea Extract (preserved in Potassium Sorbate and Sodium Benzoate), Essential Oils Rose of Palmarosa and Geranium Bourbon, Glycerin

ACNE GLYCOLIC TONER

by beautyinbalance

ACNE GLYCOLIC TONER - Italian Lemon Peel and Sugar Maple - Clear Skin Facial Toner With Fruit Alpha Hydroxy Acid Exfoliation

This particular toner consist of Lemon Peel, Sugar Maple, fruit extracts and skin loving essential oils. I like how this toner is geared towards un-clogging the pores and regenerating the skin, unlike other toners which claim to tighten the pores or prep the skin for the next step in your skincare regime. I will definitely have to use sunblock if I am using this product in the day due to the exfoliating effect.

Ingredients: Aloe barbadensis (Organic Aloe Vera), Hamamelis virginiana (Witch Hazel), Acer Saccharinum (Organic Sugar Maple) Extract, Citrus medica limonum (Organic Lemon) Extract, Vaccinium Myrtillus (Organic Bilberry) Extract, Vaccinium macrocarpon (Organic Cranberry) Extract, Saccharum officinarum (Organic Sugar Cane) Extract, Citrus auranium dulcis (Organic Orange) Extract, Malic Acid, Citric Acid, Tartaric Acid, Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, DMAE, Kosher Vegetable Glycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Melaleuca alternifolia (Tea Tree) Essential Oil Polysorbate, Essential Oils, Tetrasodium Edta, Salix nigra (Black Willowbark) Extract

Lavender and Aloe Healing Facial Mist

by SpaGoddess

Lavender and Aloe Healing Facial Mist - Organic

Lavender Mist. Enough said. I love lavender anything especially since it is so good for our skin. Out of the 3 toners, I like this packaging the most due to the easy to use spray bottle. It’s more hygienic and can last a longer time. Ingredients wise, the formulation looks pretty straightfoward. There isn’t a ton of ingredients which can be a good thing for ultra sensitive skins.

Spa Goddess seems to be a crowd favourite and going by the feedback, her products really seem to work.

Ingredients: 96% Organic Lavender Mist Tone ,organic aloe, organic lavender hydrosol, organic witchazel, kosher vegetable glycerin, paraben free preservative system, lavender essential oils

I can’t make up my mind just yet, but when I do, I’ll let  you know and do a review on the selected toner! Any great toners you can’t live without?

The weekend seems so near yet so far… …. sighss

St Ives Scrubs, Soaps, Baby Stuff!

I have a strange feeling that my soap obsession has been hidden and festering in me for quite a while cause below are some of the Soap\Shampoo Bottles that I hauled back from Japan last year! I bought these from The Loft, which has something for everyone on every level. Do visit if you are going over to Japan. I bought my home lights from there, cosmetic products, stationary etc… u get the drift, amazing products at amazing prices.

Too bad, I didn’t foresee this handmade soap craze and didn’t get any soap dishes from there!

DSC_0080

Anyways, this is how I am currently storing the soaps that I want to use or display.

It’s super easy cause I bought the clear bottle from Muiji ( Daiso has nice clear bottles too) and you can cut up your soaps to whatever size you would like and store. Just grab whatever smells you desire and bath! Yummy.

image

Below is  my current soap dish and it isn’t 100% ideal for storing soaps but at least it isn’t flat so water won’t be pooling around the bar of soap. I use small cuts of soaps, so it tends to dry off pretty quickly.

photo

Here’s 2 pictures of an ideal soap storing tray. It allows all the water to drain off and the soap can air nicely.

I still love commerical bath and body pdts too, high quality ones that is. St Ives products are getting harder to find in Singapore and seem to be sold only in John Little.  I saw this on Saturday and I loved the smell and packaging of this in-shower exfoliating oatmeal and shea butter body polish. Smells amazing and feels creamy.

DSC_0102

Texture wise, this body polish is very gentle and great for people with sensitive or dry skin.  Exfoliate your skin once in a while and you’ll find body care products sink in a lot better:)

DSC_0104

The ever famous St Ives Apricot Scrub. Have to have this. A real staple for the face and body. Leaves a good pink glow on the skin after use :)

DSC_0107

Lately, alot of people around me have been either coming back to Singapore for a visit or going on short vacations. Baby Boy and I have received some gifts in the process!

My sweet Aunt got me baby clothes from Australia that are so so adorable. Shall show u the cutest one cause there are lots of clothes and I think it might bore u !

Than, my mother in law, who has been so so so amazing, bought my hubby an ipad from US. It’s fun but a little bulky. Graphics look amazing.

She also bought me this Coach Diaper Bag! Drools. Love it and mega storage space to bring the whole world with me :)

BAREBUMMBATH SOAPS on Etsy

OMG. I am on a handmade soap roll and BareBummBath is amaZING.

IMG_5064

I placed an order sometime on 23rd May and Dianne (owner of barebummbath) shipped it out super quick and it reached me yesterday! If you have any questions at all, just ask cause she replies asap. She even gave me a small education on handmade soaps:-

Worried about the heat over here, I asked Dianne if the soaps would melt if they were left out in the mailbox too long. Since my mailbox is constantly exposed to the sun, I didn’t want to risk not checking for a day or two, only to find a bag of melted squishy soaps!

Dianne promptly replied that:

“If it's hot where you live don't worry about these soaps melting if left in your mailbox, they won't…. It would take a constant 200 degrees for several hours for my soaps to even think about getting soft. The real soap, like I make either hot or cold process, won't melt easy, but if you ever order soap that is made from a pre-made glycerin base, it will be a mess if left in your mailbox, didn't know if you knew that , so no worry about your soaps melting before you get to them. Hope they arrive all safe and intact, please let me know.”

This truly is attentive and informative online customer service.

I have purchased some stuff from  Etsy over the past few years and they were always for bags or some home accessory and I’ve never experienced such customer service (despite the fact that they were more expensive).

For generously ( HUGE) sized bars, I paid an estimated total  54 SGD for 7 soaps. She also offers a flat rate shipping fee for up to 7 bars, which I thought was great considering the total weight of these luscious soaps.

SO--->> I was bursting with excitement because my hubby actually brought the parcel up to my room and I COULD literally SMELL the soaps from a few inches away. They smell divine, nothing synthetic or fake. Just amazing smelling yummy soaps that had me salivating ( *almost ).

Even my hard to please hubby approved of the soaps and lovely packaging :) They look like  individually cut cake slices that have been carefully packaged with tons of love and care. I think these soaps are going to be seriously hard to beat!
