Quick Skincare Tip– Avocado Eye Mask

IMG_1395

I’ve never been a big avocado eater up till now because I always had a misconception that it was a fatty fruit! I would squirm at the sight of friends having an avocado smoothie but I always noticed that those who loved this fruit had good skin.

“Creamy rich avocado is considered the world's healthiest fruit, because of its nutrient contents such as vitamin K, dietary fiber, potassium, folic acid, vitamin B6, vitamin C, copper, and reasonable calories in it.”

I’ll drink or eat pretty much anything ( except bugs or rodents Disappointed smile) if it helps my skin and recently I been consuming more avocado for breakfast. I cant say I love it 100% but I’ve grown pretty used to the taste and if it gives me great skin, I’m happy!

I’ve even been feeding my baby boy some mashed avocado in his plain brown rice cereal and I use the leftovers as an eye mask. I love this simple skin care trick because the mask is as fresh as it gets and I don’t have to waste food. Just slather around eye area, concentrating the green goodness especially around pesky lines. I like the plumping effect it leaves after a good 20 minutes. The skin at my eye area feels rejuvenated and moisturized after washing off the mashed avocado. Apparently, It is suppose to help relieve eye fatigue too – great if you’ve been starring at the computer screen for hours.

I just enjoy looking like a green eyed monster in the privacy of my home & it’s so idoit proof ~ Try It!

4 Gorgeous Underwear Models

Soft Brown Gyaru Eyes

I’ve been loving all shades of brown eye shadows lately and I think I’ve found a gorgeous matte brown shade from Top Shop- will show it to you guys soon! Anyways, today I used my trusty Kate Dual Eyes BR1 alone for this eye look and I loved the soft brown effect it gave. Brown shades really help to open up the eye without looking overly harsh or unnatural.

Anderson Soap Products Review

image

Have you guys heard or bought any bath or body products from Dennis Anderson on Etsy ? Well, I just bought and received one Room & Linen Spray Mist in Steamed Vanilla and Liquid Soap in Lemon Zest.

Well, let me tell you that this dude’s scents are really strong and accurate. Initially, when I got the bottles, I opened it and took a whiff and immediately thought “ the scent is pretty light” … I also thought that Steamed Vanilla smelt exactly like Steam Vanilla and so did lemon zest. They smell exactly like the description.

I took the Room & Linen Spray and gave two light sprits in my bedroom and my entire room was smelling of vanilla. The scent actually lingered in my room for 1 whole day and it got stronger as time passed!  It grew so strong at one point that I had to air out my room, imagine that!  I read in someone review of Dennis Anderson products that they tend to smell a little light in the bottle but upon use, the smell is actually very strong and I have to agree!

The packaging is pretty normal for a room spray and handy to lug around. I actually used this to perfume a shop space and it’s the only thing that can last through an entire day. Overall, if you love strong and powerful scents then this company room & linen mist will blow you away. If strong scents give you a headache, you better stay away.

As for the lemon zest liquid soap, I actually find the scent quite light. It smells just like lemon zest but I decided upon smelling it that I didnt really like it.instead,I should have tried something else like blackberry sage or lavender liquid soap. Also, it’s a mild vegan soap but I still prefer Dr Bronner’s liquid soap as Anderson liquid soap feels a little too mild for my me.

Overall, the shipping for this company was superb, packaging is good and scents are exactly as described. I really liked the room and linen spray and would like to try other scents like Apricot and Citrus Blast. I don’t recommend the liquid soap however as it feels a little too mild to me.

I’ve been on a curly hair kick lately --

I try to curl my hair and look cute but as soon as my baby gets a hold of my hair, it’s all downhill from there. Tying it up is the only way to save my poor hair! hahaha – Happy Friday!

Ulzzang Kwon Su Jeong Inspired Look

Hi everyone!

Sorry for my lack of updates. My boy has been going through really bad teething pains and I’m pooped from going back to work. It’s been tough juggling family, housework, real work Confused smile and everything else.

I’ve only worn makeup on days when I’m working and even then it’s just brows, mascara, eyeliner and lipgloss - Just so I don’t scare the customers away.

Oh well, I was surfing through some Korean forums and I stumbled across Ulzzang Kwon Su Jeong and she’s mad gorgeous.

image

To side track a little, I’ve actually had an epiphany about Korean and Japanese beauty styles. Men love Korean style makeup and women tend to be awed by Japanese style makeup. Men seem to love the natural beauty that Korean women seemingly possess and women are intrigued by the transformational abilities of Japanese style makeup. Hence, I’ve been wearing more Korean style makeup ( simple eyeliner and thick brows with natural lips) when I go out with my hubby and more Japanese orientated looks when I meet my girlfriends. My hubby finds my Japanese makeup looks “fake”, whereas my girlfriends love it… ahh…. I might be over generalizing but do share your thoughts on this little Korean VS Japanese Beauty ! hehe

image

Back to the topic at hand.. ahh.. Ulzzang Kwon Su Jeong

She doesn’t have the thick bushy Korean trademark brows so I had to follow her strangely angled brows a little more ( doesn’t really work for me but I think she looks good with it!). I only applied a little soft brown matte eyeshadow and blended very well. Then I used short false eyelashes to create natural curled lashes and used brown eyeliner to create the illusion of a longer eye shape( this part is a little hard to describe but I am thinking of doing a tutorial to explain this method). Then, I had to contour my nose with the same soft brown eyeshadow and highlight with an off white sparkly eyeshadow.

Goo Hara Inspired Look

image

Goo Hara from Kara has one of the most baby doll faces I’ve seen in the Kpop world. Whether of not she’s had work done is really of no interest to me because if she did, she’s got a fantastic plastic surgeon and if she didn’t, the world’s not fair. I love her baby doll makeup with simple emphasis on eye lining and strong brown brows. Her lips aren’t overly nude and has a hint of pink sheen to it.Red heart

Here’s my take on it. Just getting those thick brows took me a long time to draw, blend, clean up and draw again. Thick brows are a must have for any Korean Inspired Look, so laboring over them is well worth it!

I  shaded my nose somewhat to give an illusion of sharper features. Also, I highlighted down the center of my forehead and nose as well as cupid’s bow for added dimension. Face is kept clean and minimal and lips were kissed with MAC’s Lip Glass in Culture Clash.Untitled 114

That’s it for Goo hara inspired look. She’s got a lot more looks that I’m digging, so come back for more if you love her Smile

Hits & Misses Jan & Feb 2011

I’ve been trying some new products and decided to give the low down on what I loved and what I could have saved my moolah on.

HITS:

1) Nature Republic Aloe Vera 90%

This aloe vera based gel is easily absorbed by my skin and I love the light fragrance. It makes my skin feel hydrated and I like that it comes in a big tub for only 13 plus SGD. Totally worth it!

IMG_1074

2) Etude House Light Cleansing Oil

This oil based cleansing oil is as good as Sana Cleansing Oil and the packaging is so sweet and pretty. I like the fact that even stubborn mascara and smokey eyes melt away with this powerful cleanser.

IMG_1058

3) Nature Republic Gel Liner

I’m doing a review for this super easy to use liner. Beats Loreal, maybelline and a few Japanese brand Gel liners I’ve tried. Red heart

4) MAC Lip Glass Culture Clash & DazzleGlass Crème Soft Dazzle

I love wearing these 2 together. The sheer pink of culture clash is complemented perfectly with soft dazzle peachy golden shimmer.

IMG_1139

5) Barbie Brown Pencil Eyeliner

The best brown pencil eyeliner I’ve used. It does not smudge once it sets and the staying power is excellent. It feels waxy smooth once it has dried and the brown color is perfect for eyes. Truly a keeper.

IMG_1141

MISSES:

1) Cyber Colors Cleansing Oil

This is Sasa house brand and I hate it. It’s a rose and chamomile cleansing oil which doesn’t remove makeup cleanly and irritates my eye. It leaves an oily film which is nasty! Don’t waste your money on cyber color productsSmile with tongue out

2) The second product you see in this picture is THE BALM Mineral Eyeshadow. I tested this out at Sasa and it looked good on the back of my hand but on my skin, the colors is flat and the staying power is very short.

 IMG_1080

3) Etude House Baking Powder Deep Cleansing Foam

This cleanser feels like any cleanser and it isn’t even that scrubby. Pure baking powder from my kitchen cabinet mixed with facial wash works so much better.

IMG_1092

That’s all for now! I need a hair trim and here’s 2 super casual outfits I wore last week. I need to get more color into my wardrobe!

How was your valentine’s day? I hope it went really well!
